The Button Synth is an experimental generative instrument that builds fully realized patches with a single click. One press triggers four synthesis engines, scale selections, time divisions, filters, arpeggios, modulations, and spatial effects. Simply hold a note on your MIDI controller to hear a sci-fi, other-wordly instrument come to life!
The central disc acts as the core generator. Every press selects a fresh combination from multiple synthesis engines, twenty scales, multiple time signatures, filters, creative effects, and LFO modulations. This process delivers an entirely unique instrument with every interaction.
Three flanking controls allow you to train the algorithm to your taste. Clicking the check icon saves the current patch to your library and guides the next roll to generate closely related sounds. Clicking the x icon tells the engine to search elsewhere, shifting the next generation to a highly contrasting sonic profile. Neutral rolls remain purely random. Over time, the synth aligns with your aesthetic preferences, using your saved library as a gravitational center.
